We had two days with wonderful shows at the Hollywood Bowl, here in Los Angeles.
Sometimes playing the very big cities like L.A, New York and London is actually less exciting - maybe because the audiences here see every act come through their town… but that wasn’t the case this time. In fact these were among the very best shows we’ve done.
It was also the first two night stand, with the luxury of not tearing down the stage and setting up for the next one - so a bit of a well deserved break for the crew. (We in the band always have it pretty easy!)
Anyway, there was one drawback about playing here, and for me it was a big one: a house rule of no photos allowed from stage!
So, aside from the one picture I took before soundcheck (from atop the seats, where you can see the “Hollywood” sign behind stage) I wasn’t allowed to take my camera onstage at all.
I don’t know which of these two signs caused me more horror….
Jeesh!
Anyway, that’s all I have to show you from what were two wonderful nights.
It’s getting to the stage of the tour where we can see the end coming, in a week, and I’ll admit being sad about that - it’s been a wonderful combination of special music, great chemistry between the artists and among all the musicians, and a super crew that puts on an amazing production every night.
My hope is that I’ve been able to impart some of that flavor in these road diaries.
We’re not done yet, though… so, more soon - from Seattle, Calgary and Edmonton - where I hope to hell I will be allowed to take photos!
