We’ve now moved to “Production Rehearsals” which are quite different than just the band rehearsing.
You can see from the top photo, there are a lot of trunks and cases. And yes that reflects that it’ll be a large stage show.
I’m not going to post my photos of the look of the show until after tour starts, but will try to convey the feel of the rehearsals. We’re working hard, but having fun, and are excited as the staging effects come together. That hasn’t all happened yet, at this stage of rehearsing, but we can see what’s coming. Lot’s to look at.
Transmitter batteries - always an issue. (note to self: Get a bigger belt - I’ll be wearing four transmitter/receivers in this show.)
I like to use a little 360 degree camera, when it goes wrong things get really strange looking, but sometimes interesting.
Okay, I’ll admit it, I’ve become fairly obsessed with string dampeners of different thickness, to put under the bass strings… am leaning toward using different sizes for each piece!
Story of the day
I wear hearing aids nowadays, and to rehearse or do a show I take them out, put in my wireless in-ear monitors. Last week, during one rehearsal a few of the sound crew came over to my Nord keyboard, and were examining it, listening for a noise… they seemed to be looking for a fan, but there isn’t one. Turned out I’d put the hearing aids in a little packet atop the keyboard, without turning them off, and there was a quiet squealing coming from the packet. I, of course, hadn’t heard it.
An ‘old guy moment’ for sure… likely not the last one of the tour.
