Great to be back in this historic site.

A word about the Pompeii Amphitheatre; it’s a bit older than most venues we play… was built in 70 BC (!)

And, in 79 AD it was buried in volcanic ash, for… oh, 1,700 years. So, yeah, pretty historic, I’d say.

This sign wasn’t put up to greet us, it’s the name of the event.

Though it’s been very hot here, we luckily have a day with thunderstorms and lots of rain to cool things down.

(the views can’t help but remind me of my visit 8 years ago, when King Crimson played the venue. Here’s Robert Fripp looking it over.)

Things being wet means, on this stage without a roof, our gear can’t really be set up yet…

although in breaks in the weather, the guys do their best to get things ready

The band heads out to meet some VIP’s…

and soon the audience is coming in… the tents go away and things are ready

We’ll do our pre-show ritual (whetever it means!)…

Thrilling to be here. Lucky to have done the show without rain, and also without the heat that’s been hovering.
