Tony - my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at the King Crimson concert at the Nokia Theater on Sunday Aug 17. We were extremely excited to see all the magic unfold from the 2nd row; it felt like we were at a private show. Thank you all so very much for what I am sure was a great amount of work to put this tour together - we are most grateful!! We are big fans of much of your music (the rest we just haven't heard yet!) and we look forward to seeing you playing again very soon!! All The Best!

Love the comic pages! What a riot! I've always felt that Crimson has a sense of humor (at least, since the early '80s) given the Barbershop Crim song or when Adrian, during a concernt, scratched his face while "scraping" the guitar with his pick. And didn't Adrian pull out an electric drill on stage once? Anyway, those comic pages are great. Thanks Tony!

Hello! Caught your wonderful show on 08-08-08 and was blown away - as usual - by you guys. One question, though - why was there someone from the KC camp taking pics of ALL individuals standing in line before the doors opened?? Safe travels!!

Tony, Thank you for bringing so much wonderful music into my life and for inspiring me as a bass player. The show in NYC last Saturday night was a true pleasure to watch. It was almost identical to what I would have picked for a dream set list. I also really enjoyed watching you take on some of Trey's parts. I like to also throw out a big thank you to my 31 yr old wife Rachel. She is not much of a KC fan but she was a trooper and sat by her man's side the entire show. Hope to see you soon Tony!

Saw you guys last night at the Nokia. I was, as expected, blown away. I missed Mr Bruford though. But it all was over too fast. I wonder if you feel that way after you finish a tour with KC? First gig I saw you play was with Peter Gabriel at the Paradise in Boston in '77 or was it '78? He introduced you as a Brookline Boy! Time...

Hi Tony, Saw the band Aug 12th at the Keswick Theater. While I agree with your blog about the sonic issues (boom-boom!), it was still good to see you all tour. Can't wait to see you tour "Stick Man" in the Philly area. I'll be there too! Thanks again.

Hey Tony- I had the good fortune to be able to attend your gig at the Nokia Theatre last night with my fiancee and my brother- we all love King Crimson (even me- though I've heard KC has the reputation for not drawing many female listeners...you got me for life though!) We were ALL completely blown away by the performance on 8/14/08. I think we were drooling in disbelief for 93% of the show- there is no band on Earth that can do what Crimson can- and Gavin was an incredible addition to a stellar line-up. YOU are so much fun to watch on stage- and an absolute bass playing powerhouse. Thank you for the best Friday night ever- long live King Crimson, and Viva el Levin! Love,
Susan

I'd been unable to catch a King Crimson show until last night at the Keswick. It took me 27 years to finally see a Crimson show, and it was worth the wait! Thank you so very much. You were the first person I ever heard play a Chapman Stick, and I'll be getting my first lesson on my newly acquired Stick soon. Thanks again!

Tony, I went to KC´s show in Park West Chicago Wednesday august 6, and truly enjoyed it. The band was tight and the room´s sound was superb.Glad to see that in your opinion that one was one of KC best ever! I happened to be vacationing in Chicago with my family and coincided with the show. My nephew told me about it and bought the tickets way in advance.Thank god. Do plan to film this tour? I sure hope so. Regards from Panama.

When I saw Adrian seated in some of the recently posted photos, it brought to mind the only other time I recall him seated was when he was playing "Discipline" Since the setlist photos are too small for my feeble eyes, I'm curious if that piece is in play...one of my favorite KC compositions.

Tony, seeing you in KC is like seeing a tiger in the forest i.e. where you need to be. I've been a fan of KC and your bass playing for over 20 years, and have always admired your tasteful playing. Seeing KC in N'ville Sunday ranks right up there with one of the best shows I've ever seen. Oh yeah, two suggestions for the unused band names category--"Our Mayor's Toupee" and "The Fecal-Eye Continuum" (or "Pink Eye" for short). "If very low frequency were a country (VLF), and said country had a flag, Tony Levin's Picture would be on it and he'd be the President," a quote from a college bass debate some 15 years ago. Thanks, Britton (Louisville) PS. Know that you are always welcome in Louisville.

Tony, thanks for posting these photos of last night's show. I enjoyed it thoroughly, even though I'm not real familiar with KC. My boyfriend, the CrimHead, didn't really have to drag me along. Musicians as good as you all . . . well whatever the "genre" I can enjoy the display of your talent. I felt privileged to be on the receiving end. "Play something new!" "Play something old!" The fanboys weren't as bad as usual last night I guess, but my response would be "Play whatever you like and delight us with your choice." It was a wonderful show. Y'all delighted a newbie. Oh, and two drummers? I was skeptical before the show, but they amazed me. I know that drummers "are musicians too," but their play against each other was so musical that I just about swooned. Oh, and of course, you were great, too!! Love you much and thanks for the . . . entertainment is too trivial a word.

It's great to hear the show in Chicago last night seemed to you one of the best Kc shows you've done. It was certainly the most intense musical experience of my life so far. Saw you with LTE in June at the same venue, it was nice, but really it doesn't compare to this. You people were absolutely scary last night. Red made me cry, Indiscipline was fabulous, everything else brought me immense joy. Thank you.

Tony, I was totally blown away by the awesome show in Nashville (Sunday night). Couldn't believe I actually got to see you guys perform. Just a suggestion on the photography ... if you will use a higher ISO setting, maybe 1600, you will have a much faster shutter and far less blur in your shots. Again, thanks for a truly amazing experience.

I was saddened to read about Joe Beck, oddly I was not surprised to hear that you knew him and played with him. Tony, perhaps it would be simpler if you merely listed musicians you have NOT played with? ;-) The only stuff I know/have for sure of his is DMP-446, "friends", 1984 and "DMP-464, "Back to Beck", 1988. Both great. He will be missed.

Hello, Tony! I had a chance to visit Juan Munoz's exhibition in Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao. Some of his statues and scene settings reminded me the video for PG's I Don't Remember. Do you know (by chance) if it's possible, that Mr. Gabriel or the video director was aware of Munoz's work back then? Good luck with Crimson shows!!!

I caught 3 shows of the 1981 Discipline tour ... Washington D.C. at the Warner Theatre ... Owings Mills, Maryland at the Painters Mill Music Theater, and .. Atlanta, Georgia at the Agora Ballroom. I was center and against the stage in Atlanta, and looking thru the crack in the curtain as RF was checking out the setup before the show, when he looked at me and said "don't stare at me, it makes me nervous" ;-) While I loaded up in 81, I haven't seen KC since. Way too long.
Looking forward with great anticipation to seeing you guys on Sunday at the Bellcourt in Nashville, along with my 19 year old son, who is also a big fan, also a bassist like myself, and wasn't yet born the last time I saw KC. Tempus Fugit, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. Tell Robert I might stare at him, just a little bit. (for old times sake):-)

Hi Tony , I do believe that you've had (and still have) an astonishing career-Peter Gabriel,King Crimson ... And are among the TOP bass players in Prog rock I would have liked, but unfortunately was not able, to see the 'Friends of Crimson King' gig in Québec city. However,I hope that this rejuvenated version of King Crimson lineup will make and extra 'last call' stint in Montreal, where you also have many fans ....

I'm really pleased to write to you M. Levin, i'm one of your biggest fans in the province of Québec, and i'm working since 2 years now on a musical project who's named...only Peter Gabriel's music. We still are on studio for the winter, and i was asking myself if..when you will come at Québec ( July, 8 and 12) i had a chance to see you, before or after the show...for a friendly conversation first...but for a technical question too. I know you are a very busy musician, but i take my chance. Good luck in all your businesses. Sincerely.

Well I just have to write and share this. I recently had the incredible fortune of seeing the LTE band at Nearfest a few weekends ago. Right from the front row directly in front of Tony. I've been to 6 Nearfest's so far and LTE's set was far and away the best performance by a band or artist that I've seen there yet, not to mention the loudest! And I've the scar to prove that! During their set the vibratations from their music literally shattered a recessed spotlight that was in the roof directly over my head. Pieces of the broken glass which were a quarter of an inch thick and 2 to 3 inches long (and very sharp!) managed to pass through the safety netting that covered the fixture right onto my seat. The first piece landed in my lap and fell to the floor. My son and I first thought it was a piece from Mike Portnoy's drum kit and he was hammering on those skins. But the next piece which was considerably larger managed to hit my bare calf and cut me. I felt this sharp stab in my leg and when I looked down I noticed my leg was cut and bleeding. I went out and alerted some folks from the venue, showed them the pieces of glass (of course I kept them!), got them to clean the wound, slapped a band aid on it and ran right back to the show. (They wanted to relocate me to another seat but there was no way I was going to give up my front row seats! You can see me and my son in Tony's pics from Nearfest smiling and clapping.) Fortunately though the seat next to me was abandoned so I after I got bandaged up I was able to move over and avoid the rest of the glass as it continued to rain down. Naturally I saved all of the glass as a wonderful souvenior to one of the most intense concerts I've ever witnessed.

Tony, you and the rest of LTE were off-the-charts brilliant last night in SF at the final show of the LTE tour. Hi Tony! Me and my girlfriend flew over from Norway to see the two LTE shows at BB King's and the one in Downey. All three of them were absolutely mind-blowing! Coming to know LTE through the usual route of being DT fans it was the very first time we ever saw you play live. We were thrilled and filled with awe, the shows were amazing and felt way too short. Absolutely amazing to see you play! Thanks a lot, keep rocking!

We were THRILLED to see you jam last night at the Downey Theatre - it's always a great time when you are on stage, but it was particularly amazing to watch you play, as you even put it, more notes than we think we have ever seen you play in any one song!! Great show. The jam session was especially awesome! In fact, while I love your released songs, I think I enjoyed the jamming the most. I really dug not knowing where you guys were going with it. Additionally, my first time seeing any of you in person. I say come back to Chicago again some time, soon rather than later, playing the same venue. And bring a backup keyboard!

WOW! The show at Park West is one I will never forget. It's unfortunate you were not able to play the material that was prepared, but I feel so luckey to have been there. When would any one be able to see such talented players just CREATE from nothing, and for over an hour. What you call a jam is better than most bands polished product. Thanks for a rare look into what being creative and talented really means.

Also I just wanted to mention that my son Chris had the pleasure of chatting with you backstage in LA a while back when you played a show along with PT at the House of Blues, he couldn't wait to tell me the next day.Hope to catch you with Crimson in August. Thanks

Saw your June 25 Chicago show at Park West. What a blast! You guys can definitely jam. While it was disappointing to miss out on the prepared LTE material, I actually found the jam even more entertaining. You "exposed" yourselves through the jam, giving us a chance to see your raw talents. I loved it... and who would have known Jordan could shred guitar like that! Kudo's to all in LTE. You could have walked off the stage frustrated. Instead, you were real pro's and gave the crowd a great show!

Looks like great fun! (And nice to see that a woman finally fought her way to the front!) I have great memories of the TLB show at BB Kings two years ago. If I still lived in NY, I would have been there for sure. Please come back to San Francisco some time soon... :o)

I know you have done a ton of work Tony but I was telling a friend of mine the other day that I could swear 100% that you toured recently with Todd Rundgren and opened for Heart with him in Florida. So I come to your site to prove it and go to the section of bands/artists you have toured with and guess what isn't there? The Todd Rundgren shows...lolol. Please prove me right! I know I saw you performing with him that night!

Tony, Was at the first LTE show at BB's on Monday. Really enjoyable show. The Gershwin piece was a blast. A fantastic way to kick off summer. Looking forward in ways unimaginable to the Crimson shows in August. Will be there on the 16th. Thanks so much for so much enjoyable music. Take care and happy touring.

Hi Tony,I know you just have all the time in the world and all...so I was wondering, could you stop by Dallas and teach me how to play the stick? I can't play two cups together but I could probably pick up a few chords in just a couple of weeks. Seriously...I love your playing style and look forward to years of listening to more. Thanks for changing my views on how a bass can be played. It's like the instuments are part of your soul and it all just rumbles right on out there to share. Thanks for playing.

Hi Mr. Stickman. Do you have any plans to do a worldwide tour with King Crimson this year or next one, or only it will be a brief season. Please make it know in the net. I think that the information of the tour is minimal and we want to know everything. PLEASE COME TO MEXICO.

Antonio Levino- Since you have coffee as one of your passions, I wonder if you could post a little bit about where you get your beans. Your thoughts and recommendations thereof please. Besides music, coffee is truly an art and a passion of mine. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks Jim

Hi Tony. We met why you played here a couple years ago. I also met you in Rennselear with Crimson years ago. My son and I (both bassists) think are big fans. I just wanted to let you know that Adrian Belew is playing in Troy at Revolution Hall on Sunday June 8. If you're around and can come that would be great. Are you doing the Crimson Tour? I tried to get tickets to the NY shows in August and could only find scalper tickets f $400+. Way out of my league. I wish Crimson would play up here - Saratoga maybe. Maybe you can do a show here again. I'll keep an eye out. If you're playing, I will continue trying to get tickets - somewhere. I hope to see you play soon.

Hello Tony, just met you at Soundcheck on Tuesday 27 May. Wanted to thank you for the chat and the espresso. It's comforting to meet another enthusiast/addict! Just kidding. Would love to get the specs of the Nespresso machine, it's so darn spiffy with the case and all! Travel safe, and always keep your earplugs close at hand.

Mr. Levin, I live in the town near Kazan (only 6 hours on the train). You don't know how the hell am I happy right now! I have found out information about this AMAZING (A-fckn-MAZING) forthcoming event just yesterday and my hands are shaking even now. I think the shake is gonna be with me till end of the August and then the whole world will collapse - because nothing can stand such a concentration of awesomeness in one place. When more amd more information was coming to me I was almost forced to cry (and I surely did) of happyness. You know, I was like "KTU is coming to Kazan" - "OMG! We're going, man!" and after some internet-digging and checking your myspace it was a control shoot - that's where it became unbelieveble. Thank you, Tony, for assisting the whole thing. PS Tell a few words about this fest to Peter G. I think he would be eager to play in such a place like Kazan, I've been there - it just suits so much. One more time - the bigest thanks of all timez !

Hey Tony! I admire your work. I'm waiting for next King Crimson's album and I hope we'll see you in Poland, because when you were in Poland with magnificent double-trio Crimson and later with Peter Gabriel I couldn't be there. To me THRAK is the most important (and probably the best) album ever - it's my life's soundtrack. 'Discipline' is perfect too (magic stick!). Of course, your work with John Lennon, Gabriel or David Bowie are excellent too. And wonderful bass line in 'One World' with Dire Straits! You know, I could talk a lot of your music. So, best wishes from Poland and good luck!

Every year, someone comes up to me and asks me if I am Tony Levin. This happened again last night at the BMI awards function in Los Angeles. My wife is an agent for film and tv score composers so I get to many events during the year. I tell them, yes there is a resemblance for alas, I am not you. Still, I am amused that we do look a great deal alike. Keep up the great work and perhaps one day we will meet. The other connection is that I lived in Boston 20 years until I came out west. Hey Tony! Just got my tickets for the Beast tour in August, and am a little confused- you have only the 6th and 7th listed, but at the KC site (and ... Ticketmaster), they have 6th 7th and 8th listed. Is this is error on your site, or are you not playing on the 8th? Hehehe... Cheers man!

Tony Levin has been a major influence to me as an avid fan of Hard and Progressive Rock. Since 1979 when I would Hear King Crimson on San Jose's KOME Radio a show called StoneTrek with Greg Stone. In 1981 my ears met Tony Levin on the 1st track, Elephant Talk. For 27 years Tony Levin's bass and style has been a daily staple in my audio system and its still fresh. Thanks Tony. You are one of my top 5 bass playing musicians of all time.

Tony -- I've been thinking about a 3-string bass again lately. I approached EBMM a while back about making a one-off bass, similar to the one that you lost in the fire. They were gracious but said 'no, thank you, we'll never do another one." However, I read in an old interview with you that EBMM might consider building another one for you. If they haven't done that already, would you -- and EBMM -- consider building two, one for you and one for me? I'm very interested in this kind of project. Either way, please let me know. And thanks for all the great music. There's a great clip of KC from 1981 on youtube -- you guys just nailed Elephant Talk that day.

Just pulled my old 10 string #822 out of its rotting case after many years. It was encased in a foam pudding so I cleaned her up, put on a set of new 20 year old strings, hung a picture of you on my wall and started learning Brown Sugar(the 1st tune I learned on Bass). One problem, my tired old eyes have turned much of the finger-board into a brown blob. Two questions for you; how much does a set of strings set ya back these days and does the word vacation mean anything to you? CIAQ.

hey tony: I'd just like to say thanks for all the inspiration you have provided me in my music emdeavors, although I'm mainly a guitar player, i delve into bass as well(mainly for lack of adventureous players in my area). I purchased a pair of funky fingers years ago from a flyer I picked up at a league of crafty guitarist show at cornell university and have become fairly proficient with them. People usually flip out when I pull them out wondering what the they are. Just wanted to say thanks again, by the way you still got that Harley you rode to the first show of the Thrak tour(great show by the way)?

Hi Tony. Hope you and your family are well. Another 10 day Berks County PA Jazz Fest (the biggest one in US, possibly the world) AND YOU ARE NOT HERE. Chris Botti played Sat PM to a sold out crowd and I was remembering the first time I ever saw him he was playing with you. Peter White, and Bill B at the TLA in Philadelphia. Brother Mike was working with you at that time. Please don't think I am stalking you as I write you every year at this time... .but would love to see you perform around here. Travel safe. Stay well.
