Dec 27, Kingston

Interesting and unique shows coming up in the next months.

In January (all dates and venues are below) New York's Town Hall venue will be the site of the debut of Eddie Jobson's new band UKZ. King Crimson fans will know of Eddie from his tenure in the band - and his forming UK after that. Trey Gunn is in the new band, and it should be pretty great. (Their website.)

My part in the show will be as the opening act: with the U.S. debut of Stick Men with Michael Bernier on Stick, King Crimson's Pat Mastelotto on drums, and myself.
(We'll be doing a European tour on our own, in April/May. Those dates are being booked now.)

In February, in New York's Irridium club, another re-union - this one from way back! Drummer Steve Gadd and I moved to Woodstock in 1976, to join a band with vibes player Mike Mainieri and pianist Warren Bernhardt. Rehearsing in Mike's barn and doing local gigs, we were sometimes joined by guitarist David Spinozza, and eventually adopted the name L'Image. (We were playing some excerpts from Debussy's L'Images in the set, and as closely as any of us can remember, that seemed an appropriate band name, but we dropped the ending "s" to avoid confusion about pronouncing the name.) ('Avoid confusion' ... it's still not the clearest of names!)
Well, back in '76 - '77 we wrote and rehearsed, at Mike's barn in Woodstock, with occasional gigs at the Joyous Lake. Then the new group Stuff took Steve away from us, and the ensuing years found Mike founding the enduring band "Steps Ahead", David doing tons of guitar sessions and becoming a successful writer in New York, Warren recording many solo albums, touring with Steely Dan, Steve playing drums with just about everyone on the planet, and my happily connecting with King Crimson and Peter Gabriel.
So this year we managed to finally re-convene, record an album with some of the material written back at the barn, and we'll 'debut' a band at the Irridium, that's had a long history. (And some pretty great players.)

Peter Gabriel will be doing a tour of South America, in March. As concerts are confirmed, they'll be listed below on this page (just three so far, in Mexico.)

There has been so much flying up on different pages, then links going away - here is a little list of this year's new pages. (pages are always on the archives list at page top.)
